Compact, power-efficient X Platform performance brings broadcast-grade reliability and ultra-low latency to space-constrained remote production (REMI) workflows
Oslo, Norway — 8 September 2026 — Appear ASA (Appear OSE:APR), a global leader in live production technology, today announced the Appear X5 compact media processing platform will support live contribution workflows for DP World Tour golf events. Live coverage of the DP World Tour is produced by European Tour Productions and global sports marketing agency, IMG.
Throughout live sports production there is a growing requirement for trusted, Tier-1 performance in a smaller, lower-footprint platform that can be deployed quickly and efficiently. Through its broadcast fibre service provider, Cingularity, IMG has become the first company to deploy the X5 internationally. It is using the X5 to contribute HEVC video from DP World Tour golf tournaments to its studio facility based in Stockley Park, London, for distribution.
Carolina Minhoto Santos, Director of Sales Engineering at Cingularity, said: “Appear has been much more than a technology provider to us; it has also been a strong technical partner throughout the implementation process. Its close collaboration with our team made deployment straightforward, and the X Platform has helped us standardise our workflows, simplify operations and reduce complexity by reducing the need to work with multiple vendors. Just as importantly, Appear enables us to deliver excellent picture quality and low latency at low bitrates, helping us to maximise limited connectivity and do more with less.”
Designed for deployments where space, power draw and operational simplicity are critical, the X5 extends the core strengths of Appear’s X Platform into a compact, portable form factor, enabling broadcasters and production service providers to deliver ultra-low latency contribution, high-quality compression and resilient IP media transport from the venue edge, flypacks and mobile rigs.
Cingularity, specialists in bespoke live video networking and remote production solutions, is using the X5 as part of flyaway workflows suited to the diverse geography and scale of DP World Tour events, helping to ensure consistent, broadcast-grade contribution for tournaments where transporting large-scale infrastructure is impractical.
Carolina Minhoto Santos concluded: “X5 gives us the best of both worlds: the proven performance of Appear’s X Platform and a compact solution that makes far more sense for flyaway contribution. For global event workflows like the DP World Tour, that means smaller, more efficient kits, faster deployment and the confidence that we can deliver low-latency, broadcast-grade contribution from venue to venue.”
Andy McClelland, Senior Vice President EMEA & GM UK&I at Appear, said: “Cingularity’s deployment highlights how live production is evolving: becoming more distributed and agile, while delivering the same premium results broadcasters rely on from high-density solutions such as our X10 and X20 solutions, so that operators like Cingularity can deploy broadcast-grade contribution in flight cases and space-constrained environments without limiting functionality or changing how they operate.”
The Appear X5 is engineered for high-value, smaller-scale live productions and is well suited to remote contribution, regional backhaul, REMI workflows, flypacks, OB trucks and mobile rigs where space and power are limited. It integrates into both SDI and IP-based infrastructures and supports broadcast-grade resilience features including SMPTE 2022-7, SRT and IP-FEC, and provides encode / decode in multiple codecs, helping operators maintain robust performance and flexibility for premium live content.
Appear’s product strategy is centred on delivering high performance per watt and maximum operational efficiency. X5 extends that philosophy to edge and flyaway deployments, giving customers a compact solution that supports premium live production while reducing power consumption, rack space and shipping burden compared with larger, less efficient alternatives.
