Oslo, Norway, Appear TV, a leading provider of next-generation high-quality video processing platforms for broadcast and streaming, is excited to launch a new high-bandwidth IP codec module for the market leading X Platform. It enables content producers and operators to deliver light JPEG XS compression on ultra-low-latency links between uncompressed source and destination devices.
Building on the success of the compression functionality launched earlier this year, the new module enables encoding and decoding of uncompressed video over SMPTE 2110, with dual native 40 Gbps interfaces and support for 2x UHD or 6x HD encoders or decoders. The codec delivers JPEG XS encoding and decoding for low latency contribution and video networking links, and up to eight audio essences per video stream.
“We confirm our commitment to enable operators of the X Platform to take advantage of the latest in high-resolution and real-time capabilities with the lowest possible latency,” says Carl Walter Holst, CEO of Appear TV. “Our modular approach allows customers to tailor-make their units to meet any requirement, including high-speed IP, low latency compressed and uncompressed video delivery, and high-density SDI applications.”
As part of the near limitless X Platform known for its modular software defined hardware, there is no shortage of future possibilities. New input formats and compression features will be released in upcoming software releases, securing customers investments.
The X Platform has already achieved a global footprint, and is used in applications such as contribution, end-to-end IP, cable, satellite, terrestrial, IPTV and OTT. It offers encoding/transcoding/decoding, modulation/demodulation and scrambling/descrambling, as well as advanced processing and multiplexing. This latest module emphasizes Appear TV’s commitment to continually improving its technology to best support current expectations and exceed all future requirements.
