Enabling the adoption of all-IP network infrastructure
Connecting facilities on all-IP network infrastructure is now becoming the norm. There is an increased move to upgrade studios from a coax SDI-based infrastructure to an all-IP 2110-based infrastructure. But this merge from SDI to 2110 is a large investment and will typically take many years to complete.
Due to live interactions between studios or facilities, low latency is a must, and as the video resolution moves to 4K and then on to 8K, bandwidth will increasingly be a limitation on WAN networks. Consequently, some form of video compression will typically be required as long as it does not introduce unacceptable delays.
